Lithium-ion battery and safety
When handled correctly, lithium-ion batteries are very safe. Therefore, it’s important that lithium-ion batteries are built to prevent mishandling due to ignorance or mistakes by the user.
Build for safety
Our batteries are built to minimise the risk of fire:
Design: We only build batteries in which all cells have a robust protective casing made of inflammable material. All batteries have a safety vent that ruptures in case of increased internal pressure. Our batteries are tested in accordance with the automotive industry’s requirements.
Mounting: The battery cells are mounted on racks that ensure that the cells are fixed in a specific position.
Acid-free: The battery packs are mounted in boxes that provide shock resistance and minimal oxygen inflow. Since fire requires oxygen, a potential fire would die fairly immediately when the oxygen is burn out.
Alarm system: The BMS system monitors, alarms and protects. It will send an alarm at too high temperatures and the operation will be disconnected.
System test: The batteries are tested under the same physical stress as the product it will be mounted in.
As far as we know, fire has never occurred in correctly mounted lithium-ion batteries with protective casing.
