Lithium-ion batteries have long been used in small electronic equipment, such as mobile phones. It is only recently that the technology has become readily available for heavy industrial use. Alelion has been developing and optimising lithium-ion batteries for more than a decade and today has some of the market's most superior batteries and battery cells. Our batteries have twice as high energy density as lead-acid batteries. This means the batteries are smaller and still store more energy. In addition, our products have a lifespan that is three times longer than lead-acid batteries.
An additional advantage is that the batteries can be charged at regular breaks during the workday, such as a coffee or lunch break. They are also completely maintenance free throughout their lifespan. These advantages are critical for safe and efficient work, particularly for companies with two or three work shifts.
There are other advantages to lithium-ion batteries. For example, the battery can withstand a deeper discharge than conventional batteries. This way, the picker truck can be operated much longer on the same charge. Lithium-ion batteries performs equally well at cold temperatures as lead-acid batteries do, making them an excellent choice for those who use picker trucks in cold rooms or at highly varying temperatures.
Lithium-ion batteries improve safety in the workplace. Examples are: no need for heavy lifting to replace batteries, no emissions of oxyhydrogen during charging or use and no risk of cancerous substances leaking into the workplace. In addition, users do not need to fill the batteries with distilled water or, in the worst case, forget to do so and risk damaging the batteries. Besides these practical benefits, lithium technology also helps reduce energy consumption and reduce negative climate impact.
Lithium-ion batteries can be configured to alert the user how much time remains until the next charge, or how many additional lifts can be performed with the remaining battery power. This enables the user to better plan their day based on the remaining battery power. If the battery gets overheated, it communicates with the truck and turns off the power. Alelion builds the control units in-house and can thus customise the functionality for specific needs.
