Alelion does not manufacture the cells. Our strategy is instead to use the most applicable cell for each industrial application as they are progressively introduced to the market and to optimise the choice of cells with the manufacturing of batteries while having our in-house designed BMS system for each individual industry. This way, we are not limited to a certain type of cells or a certain capacity and can instead offer flexibility to our customers.

A common view is that lithium-ion batteries are too light to be a counterbalance in a forklift. This is only partly correct. The batteries themselves are too light to function as a counterbalance. This is partly because lithium-ion batteries do not contain any lead and partly because the energy density in the lithium-ion batteries means the batteries do not need to be very big.
The problem with lower counterbalance is easily solved by constructing forklifts to carry extra ballast and by the fact that forklifts with lithium-ion batteries are usually more compact. The advantages of lithium-ion batteries remain, even when extra ballast is loaded to the forklift. Lead-acid batteries are always oversized for what they are used for. This is necessary as compensation for the power the battery loses when its charge drops.
The weight and size of a lithium-ion battery can be customised for specific conditions and thus optimise the performance of the forklift. Alelion always modifies the batteries based on the manufacturers or users requests and specifications. That way, the customer can be confident the battery has been fully optimised for the unique conditions and challenges it will operate under. If frequent recharges are possible, then a smaller battery is always the best choice as this will save both money and the environment.
Lead is a heavy metal that is very harmful for both humans and animals. Today, lead is illegal in the vast majority of applications, such as in colour pigments or as admixture in fuels. An important advantage of lithium-ion batteries is that lead consumption decreases while safety for people handling batteries is improving. Switching to lithium-ion batteries means many hazardous and time-consuming work processes are eliminated. Heavy battery replacements and refilling of water are examples of redundant tasks. Further, there is no need for charging rooms with expensive ventilation, meaning your floor space can be utilised in a more productive way.
Further, lithium technology allows for less energy use, which has a positive impact on both environment and finances. The reduced energy consumption helps in achieving sustainability goals.
The end customer’s actions impact on how much of the available savings in CO2 equivalents and energy will actually be realised. Lithium-ion technology allows for fast and frequent charging of forklifts and batteries. This is not possible with lead-acid batteries. If the end customer can schedule in recharging during the workday, then a lower capacity battery can be chosen. This brings many advantages for the environment as the production of cells and batteries in itself is highly resource-intense. This is the same logic as when an individual buys a car with a smaller battery that needs frequent charging, instead of buying a higher capacity vehicle that can be driven longer distances without being charged.

Using energy storing batteries for energy storage from renewable energy sources means there is no longer a requirement to use the energy the same second it is being generated.
